Learn from Nevaeh

Nevaeh has been cheering and dancing for years, and she's the one her friends come to for routines and advice. Kids learn faster from someone they look up to.

Crew Crafts

Rainy day? Make something. New crafts every month.

Fluffy slime

  • 1/2 cup white or clear school glue
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon contact lens solution (it must list boric acid)
  • Food coloring or glitter
  1. Stir the glue and baking soda in a bowl.
  2. Add the color.
  3. Add the contact solution a little at a time, stirring until it pulls away from the bowl.
  4. Knead with your hands for 2 minutes. Too sticky? Add a few more drops of solution.

A grown-up helps. Don't eat it, wash hands after, and keep it away from little ones under 3. Store it in a zip bag.

Papier-mâché

  • 1 cup flour + 1 cup water (the paste)
  • Newspaper torn into strips
  • A balloon or a bowl to shape it on
  • Paint for later
  1. Mix the flour and water until smooth, like pancake batter.
  2. Dip a strip, wipe off the extra, and lay it on the balloon.
  3. Cover it in 3 layers, crossing the strips.
  4. Let it dry overnight, pop the balloon, and paint it.

Messy! Cover the table. A grown-up handles the balloon popping.
